The United States announced on Sunday that it is disappointed that Iran has ruled out holding an informal meeting to discuss ways to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with major powers, but added that it is still ready to participate again in serious diplomatic efforts on the issue.
A White House spokeswoman said, "Although we are disappointed by Iran's response, we remain ready to re-engage in serious diplomacy to achieve a mutual return to compliance with the obligations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," referring to the nuclear deal.
She added that Washington will consult with its P5 + 1 partners and the other four permanent members of the UN Security Council, China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom, as well as Germany on the best way forward.
