The Iraqi government announces the withholding of the ration card items from "unworthy" groups

Today, Thursday, the Iraqi government decided to withhold the ration card items from categories it described as "non-needy" as part of "a set of reform measures", according to a government statement, and the decision stipulated that the ration card items be withheld to those who are not eligible, starting from the first of June 2021, and obligating ministries and agencies Not associated with the ministry, provinces and all spending units by providing the Ministry of Trade with the names of its employees who receive a full salary of (one million five hundred thousand dinars (about one thousand dollars) and above, within 30 working days from the date of this decision, according to Russia Today. "

The Ministry of Commerce has identified a group of categories that will be included in the blocking decision, which are: unmarried family members whose total monthly income exceeds 1.5 million dinars, contractors classified up to the sixth degree, and company owners registered in the Companies Registration Department (whether they are directors or shareholders).

The decision also included those registered in the chambers of commerce federations up to the second degree, industries up to the third category, the businessmen union, as well as the medical association, dentists, the pharmacists union, and individuals who have a tax account of more than (18) million dinars annually, and travelers outside Iraq for a period of time. More than (3) months (to be withheld temporarily until proof of their return), residing outside the country, and Iraqis who hold the nationality of the host country.

It also included inmates in central prisons (pending release), deceased inside prisons, belonging to terrorist organizations, and fugitives from justice, Arabs, foreigners and refugees, with the exception of Palestinian families.

The ration card is a set of food items that the Iraqi government distributes to citizens on a monthly basis for free.
