Trade: Establishing a risk assurance company with a capital of $ 600 million for Egyptian exports to Africa



The Ministry of Trade and Industry affirmed Egypt's keenness to remove all obstacles and challenges facing Egyptian exports, and all procedures for import, export and release are being automated, and all regulatory authorities concerned with examination are linked in addition to working to facilitate the movement of logistical transport to African markets. The ministry said in a press statement, today, Friday, that Egypt aims to increase its exports to $ 100 billion through the implementation of a strategic plan to open more markets for Egyptian exports, especially the markets of Europe and Africa and the markets of Arab countries, noting that the government is about to implement a new program to support Exports aims to deepen the national industry, develop exports of small enterprises, enhance the penetration of Egyptian exports to the markets of African countries, as well as support land, sea and air freight for exports.

 

This came during an expanded meeting that was held via video conference technology - with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund’s mission to Egypt headed by Celine Alao, where the meeting reviewed the state’s efforts to increase exports and establish industrial complexes. The meeting was attended by Dr. Amani Al-Wasal, CEO of the Export Development Fund and Ahmed Reda, Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs. Industry.


According to the statement, the axes of the export development strategy include raising the competitiveness of the Egyptian industry, providing information and studies on the markets, providing programs and tools to secure and guarantee exports, maximizing benefit from all agencies and entities concerned with export, strengthening cooperation with international companies for market studies and structural reform of agencies concerned with export, and benefiting from free trade agreements. The preferential treatment signed between Egypt and a large number of countries and regional and global economic blocs, in addition to implementing a program to pay back the export burdens.

 

The Minister, that the new program of burden reimbursement includes the provision of a number of non-financial services to exporters, including participation in foreign exhibitions and the provision of studies, consultations and training programs for exporting companies, noting that the new program covers all traditional productive sectors in addition to implementing ambitious programs to support sectors such as the automobile and furniture industry.

 

She indicated that the state adopted a number of measures to support the export sector to face the negative repercussions of the Corona virus, including postponing the payment of loans owed to exporters, postponing the payment of state dues to them, as well as supporting workers in factories and implementing an initiative to return the export burdens to disburse arrears due to companies, as the initiative included disbursing all companies' dues Small.

 

The minister pointed out that within the framework of efforts to increase exports, the ministry has reconfigured the 13 export councils for a period of 3 years with the aim of preserving their stability, as young cadres covering all areas in each sector were hired, noting that the ministry provides training programs for exporters on the basics and how Export, as well as information on the export markets, as well as participation in exhibitions and promotional missions, as well as programs to guarantee exports.


Jameh noted that the most important target markets for exports include African markets and Arab countries' markets, as well as the European and American markets, noting that commercial representation offices abroad and Egyptian embassies provide information to exporters by providing them with market needs and export requirements for various markets, the most important importers, as well as strengthening communication. Between Egyptian and foreign companies.

 

With regard to examining food exports, Jamea said that the Food Safety Authority was established to be responsible for the safety of food traded in the local market and exported to foreign markets, by obliging exporting companies to comply with international requirements, pointing out that Egypt has many internationally accredited laboratories as well. The Ministry is affiliated with the National Accreditation Council, which is internationally accredited for accrediting testing laboratories.

 

The minister noted that a regional agreement had been signed to accumulate the Euro-Mediterranean rules of origin, expressing her hope that this agreement would contribute to increasing Egyptian exports to the European Union markets and the countries of the Agadir Agreement.

 

Jameh indicated that Egyptian exports achieved relative stability last year and in light of the Corona pandemic, due to the state's support for the industry sector, noting that the ministry aims to achieve a growth rate of 10% this year.


Regarding the ministry's efforts in the field of establishing equipped industrial complexes, the minister explained that the construction of 13 industrial complexes in a number of governorates is currently being completed, especially in Upper Egypt, where 7 industrial complexes have already been offered, and another 6 industrial complexes will soon be offered.

 

For her part, Celine Alao, head of the IMF delegation, said that this meeting comes within the framework of the second review of the programs supported by the Fund to Egypt during the emerging Corona virus (Covid 19) pandemic and aims to review the efforts of the Egyptian state to increase Egyptian exports to global markets and support various productive sectors to face the repercussions Coronavirus pandemic alongside the development of the small and medium enterprises sector.
