Scientists have repeatedly warned of the link between our dietary habits and cancer, especially the colon, as processed and prepared foods can cause significant damage that cannot be reversed, and the colon is known as the large intestine, which is an important organ in the digestive system to which a liquid is often transported. After the breakdown and digestion of food remains in the stomach and the absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, where the water is absorbed in the colon and the bacteria present in it break down the remaining material and then transfer it to the rectum in the form of faeces (faeces) and from it out of the body through the anus.
According to India's "Times News" network, colon cancer is a type that begins in the large intestine, and it is sometimes called colon and rectal cancer, a term that combines colon cancer and rectal cancer, which begins in the rectum.
The researchers at Harvard University of America conducted a study to explore the effect of diet and drugs on cancer incidence, and it was published in "Gut" magazine, although the results were disappointing as no specific drug, food or supplement used in the study showed any relationship to colon cancer, However, they found a link between a reduced risk of colon cancer, the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as high intake of vegetables and fruits rich in fiber.
The study recommends making some adjustments to the diet by adding more fruits and vegetables that contain a high amount of fiber, which is reasonable because it provides other health benefits as well.
A previous Harvard University study in 2018 indicated that diets that promote inflammation and chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease in the body are linked to colorectal cancer.
